Materials experimentation
I picked up several objects from the area around the college. I analysed their qualities and texture by taking pictures of them, drawing them, making rubbings and making prints.
I made a little book about all these objects. Most of the outcomes do not look aesthetically good. Print making was least successful of all because all the rocks and other objects are too solid and surfaces are too even to make prints. However I decided to make rubbings to record the texture of the objects and I believe it was very successful. Rubbing is probably the best way to record the texture. Drawings were not successful at all as it is impossible to understand what the object looks or feels like. I wrote some bullet points to record these features. However drawing was very useful because whilst looking at the object and thinking how to draw it I analysed its qualities. It was really good to go through all the processes as they let me analyse the objects.
I want to explore more materials before taking next step. Next step would be to take the textures, redraw them and just translate them into 3D models. Then analyse the models and see where they lead.
